Planning the weekend already?

Weekend? But it’s only Tuesday! What the heck let’s do it.

Whether it’s a walk in the woods, a pedal to a pub or a drive out to the garden centre, we’ve got some ideas and inspiration for your weekend ahead.

Meeting up for coffee?
Our top picks for a relaxed coffee – Cafe Allez in the main car park at Belvoir Castle is perfectly positioned for a number of walks and cycle rides through the woods and across the fields. This popular cafe has service nailed so you never have to wait long. Highly recommend the baguettes and 200 Degrees coffee. Plenty of seating with stunning views of Belvoir.

The Old Wharf, Hickling
In a gorgeous setting by the canal in the village of Hickling, the cafe is perfectly position for an end of walk cuppa and a bite to eat.

Caffe Velo Verde, Screveton
You don’t have to wear lycra to visit. Really. Plenty of outside seating and a super slick ordering system. Now a mecca for cyclists from far & wide – well worth a visit. If you’re a larger party it might be best to book first for busy times.

Has it been a while since your ribs were tickled?
With live performances being few and far between recently, The Geese and Fountain are delighted to host some live comedy in the shape of Jon Pearson.  Jon can regularly be found at the biggest and best comedy clubs across the UK including The Glee Club, The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, both as an act and a compere.  There are two performances & tickets are a mere £7 from the follwing link:

Pack a Picnic and head out to the countryside
Best picnic spots around. Belton House – extensive parkland with plenty of space to shake out the tartan blanket. Belvoir Castle grounds. Cotgrave Country Park. Wyndham Park in Grantham. The banks of the Grantham Canal.  There are plenty of playgrounds around the Vale which don’t ever seem too busy.  The Fuel Tank can pack up a picnic

Evening stroll along the canal?
The Dirty Duck is the perfect pit stop when you’ve had a stroll or cycle along the canal. With plenty of outdoor seating its a great choice for a beer or glass of vino.  A little further along is the Chequers in Woolsthorpe – another great option with a large range of beers & wines.

End of term is coming…
Teachers have had it tough this year, show them they’re appreciated with a local gift, something a bit different from a local producer would go down a treat. Pop by foodie favourite The Engine Yard for a great selection – Jorge Artisan Foods has some really luxurious hamper & gift set ideas.

Check out Visit Belvoir for everything local.
