The former Crown Inn stands facing the Butter Cross, dominating Market Place. Designed by the Nottinghamshire architect TC Hine, the Butter Cross was erected in 1861, in memory of John Hassall, land agent for the lord of the manor. Hassall died in 1859, aged 70. For years after his death, ‘on a certain day in the spring, garlands of primroses decorated the eight pillars of the Butter Cross, brought by people who knew him’.

When you come to our supper club you should expect a relaxed atmosphere, fabulous food, lovely setting and great hosts. You should however also expect to mix and talk to people you may not know and generally have a great evening – think relaxed, informal dinner party and you will be about there.
This is not a restaurant setting so please don’t expect that – you will use mismatched crockery and cutlery, there will be lots of quirky touches that you wouldn’t find in a restaurant but it is all about the atmosphere and the food.
The supper club is based on a fixed price pp usually for 4 course and canapés. You will be offered a free alcoholic drink or cocktail on arrival but then it works on a BYO bases as we do not hold a licence to sell you alcohol.
We generally seat 20 for the evening and do not turn the tables so you can stay and enjoy the evening for as long as you like (within reason).
We also offer a range of pop up parties and events at external venues.

Mark, Marco and the team welcome you to their new exciting venture. On the back of eight fantastic years of growth at The Nevile Arms, Kinoulton, it was time for a bigger kitchen and pub! The Windmill provides just that, plus cosy atmosphere with roaring fires in winter and a stunning patio for summer to enjoy a local ale, delicious wine or cheeky gin.
Here at The Windmill Inn our kitchen priorities are seasonality and locality. The monthly-changing menu features a balance of innovative creations with some classics. There are additional menus for the bar/ outside and a lunchtime set price simpler offering. The beautifully soft and tender Sunday roast beef cooked overnight takes some beating!
