SUMMER HOLIDAY FUN: ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

Glenda Gibson, an experienced teacher and artist, is running a number of art workshops for children at The Old Sorting House in Bottesford, during July and August.

Glenda will instruct in the use of watercolours, acrylics, coloured pencils and multimedia in a series of fun and engaging activities for small groups of children in different age ranges. One such class breaks the traditional rules of ‘colouring in’ looking at saturation of colour or individuality of hues.  Another focuses on collage to create unique birds, whilst a third will look at famous artists such as Van Gogh as a starting point for exploring brush strokes in painting.

Split into age groups (4 to 7, 7 to 11, and 11 to 14 year olds) each class will have a maximum of 6 so they will be given ample space to explore their creative individuality, something Glenda is very committed to.  As she explains “‘I am blown away by the inventiveness of children. I love the collaborative process of exploring and capturing their creative potential in their art works. These classes are my way as an artist and teacher to help them learn skills to do that.”

Suitable for children of all abilities with an interest in creating art, all materials will be supplied including aprons although wearing messy play clothes is still advised.

The classes take place on Wednesday mornings (see list below) in a dedicated studio in the recently opened Old Sorting House Gallery and Workshop, 25 High Street Bottesford NG13 0AA. Places cost £7 per child (or £10 for two siblings) morning sessions (4 to 7 and 7 to 11 year olds) and £10 per child for the longer afternoon session (11 to 14 years olds) Booking is essential.
