Nicola Wheeler, Belvoir Castle said: “We know how popular parkrun has been at Belvoir Castle has become, with more than 100 runners taking part each week. With many bringing family and friends too, we wanted to put together a special offer to allow everyone to come and enjoy the castle and gardens, while children will no doubt make a beeline for the adventure playground, and not to forget the all important re-fuelling at the Vale View Cafe. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Castle’s magnificent rooms and the historic gardens, now bursting into life.”
With three Bank Holiday weekends in May, there are also lots of extra entertainment lined up from Punch and Judy shows and live music (Saturday 29 April) to the Coronation Weekend including a screening of the ceremony (Saturday 6 May), included with admission. The Dukes of Rutland Coronation Robes have also been brought out of storage and put on public display in the Castle up until end of May, offering a fascinating look at how the family would have dressed at the previous Coronations, complete with ermine trimmed velvet, buckled shoes, silk stockings, gloves and Coronets.
