BELVOIR HUNT CLEANS UP COUNTRYSIDE
Belvoir Hunt volunteers were out in force on Sunday 7th April taking part in the Countryside Alliance’s Countryside Clean Up, part of the initiative run by Keep Britain Tidy’s, Great British Spring Clean 2019.
Two teams of Belvoir Hunt members focused on litter picking in areas within the Belvoir Hunt country and collected almost 100 sacks of rubbish. Additional items retrieved included a motor cycle helmet, old shoes, tyres and even a pair of chandeliers!
A spokesperson for the hunt commented, ‘We wanted to ensure that the countryside we love is given a good spring clean so that the local community can enjoy it rubbish-free this spring and over the Easter break.’ She added, ‘We are grateful to both Melton Borough Council and North Kesteven District Council for supporting our efforts by the loan of equipment and collection of the litter afterwards.’
