Something very different taking place at the Geese and Fountain on Monday, January 28th… please spread the word, and come along if you would like to be able to help.
Suicide is a problem for society as a whole. To increase awareness – and to help remove the stigma which can be a barrier for those in need of help – this FREE half-day training seminar should be of interest to anyone who wishes to examine their own attitudes; discover likely suicide risk factors and warning signs; and find out how you might help someone in distress / at risk of suicide.
This event is kindly hosted by the Geese and Fountain pub in memory of Mark Shaw, one of our much loved regular customers who lost his life to suicide late last year. Rather than being formal training for health professionals, the session will focus particularly on community level support and is suitable for publicans, restaurant, bar and hotel staff, child minders, farmers, vets, shop owners, hairdressers, and others who provide services or products to people in their community. We want to help ensure that residents in the Vale of Belvoir, Melton Mowbray and Grantham areas have more people in their communities who are confident to offer an appropriate support to those in distress, who they might come across in the course of their routine daily lives.
A light lunch is provided free of charge and drinks may be bought over the bar.
Training delivered by the Rural Community Council.
Two sessions will be delivered. One starting at 9am and concluding at 12 with a chance to chat informally over lunch, the other beginning with lunch at 12 and then working between 1pm and 4pm. The number of participants in each session will be limited, so please book your free place by calling the pub on 01476 870350.
