The food and drink scene in Melton Mowbray has been much enriched this year with the arrival of Round Corner Brewing at the Cattle Market. Head Brewer Colin Paige, who has won international brewing medals while brewing in three different countries during his career to date, has produced a fabulous ‘green hop’ beer with this year’s freshest hops from the annual hop harvest, and this will be your very first chance to taste it.
Creating green hop beers is a special art. The hops are picked off the bines, brought to the brewery and tossed into the brew within just a few hours, and the flavours are delicate and variable – the natural variations, which are smoothed out in the drying and processing of hops into pellets used in most modern brewing, are here given their full expression. Subtle aromas and flavours are the key here, creating a beer that is exceptionally drinkable yet with a complex and rewarding taste.
Round Corner Brewing will join us on Thursday 26th September to pour the new beer from their amazing ‘Beer Wagon’ called Mathilda. As well as the Brewjolais, we’ll have a selection of their other beers available for you to enjoy, and tasty bar snacks to go with them.
