Grape harvest, Hanwell Wine Estate, Nottinghamshire
Our grape harvest takes place in October and it’s a fantastic opportunity to involve the local community, old and young alike in vineyard life!
We welcome volunteers to help us pick grapes and enjoy a lovely day in the great outdoors, ending with a home-made harvest supper.
We start to narrow down the potential picking dates at the end of September; click here to join our Grape Picking email list and be the first to hear when the date’s set. The grapes must be ripe and the weather forecast needs to be fine, as we can’t harvest in the rain.

Snips and gloves are provided, but please feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Children are welcome to pick the grapes if they can safely use scissors. When schools out, there are often other children to play with.
A warm coat, along with sturdy shoes or boots are recommended – the vineyard can be very windy, the fields can be muddy and the grass is long in patches. All are welcome, but the uneven ground around the vines unfortunately makes it unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
We look forward to welcoming you to our vineyard – fingers crossed for the same sunshine we enjoyed last harvest! Click here to join our Grape Picking email list.
