The Noels Arms: Early Doors ‘Pot Luck Duo’ 6pm
‘Pot Luck’ (Acoustic Duo) are a duo of female vocals by Jodie Campbell, and acoustic guitar by Shane Poole (Although pictured here is Steve Wilkinson playing for Jodie as Onyx 21). They met whilst in The Twisted sisters (Now The Twisted Crew) Who had to change their name after a copyright issue with the actual band Twisted Sister! Yep really! (I was actually phoned up by Guitarist Jay Jay Smith in New York, from all the way in the US of A about this! Whilst cooking Friday night tea too!)

The Stute (Asfordby Hill): Double A Country Music Club ‘Clear Cut’ Duo’ 7.30pm
CLEAR CUT are Don Allan and his son Darren Anthony from Leeds. Don started his music career at the early age of 11 playing classical guitar attending private lessons for 4 shillings a week. In his early teens Don made his first debut appearance on stage in a pop band called “The Prey”, then on to another band called “The Assassins”. Several bands later he found his true love of music after visiting a Country Music night at a local pub when he saw a local artist Hank Rodgers performing. Shortly after he went to see a Duo called Pat & Rodger Johns from Doncaster were he realised that this was the type of music he wanted to perform.
1974 saw him join his first country music band named “Wild Country” where they had successful tours of England and Germany performing at American bases and clubs. The late 1970’s saw the band “Nightrider” formed with the former drummer from Wild Country. Nightrider went on to be very successful around the British Country Music scene and even made the finals at the sadly missed Silk Cut Festival at Wembley.
Norwood Duo was formed shortly after with drummer Tim Delaney. Norwood travelled up and down the UK performing at country venues and working men’s clubs, supporting several artistes including Bernard Manning & Karl Denver.
In 1988 Don started his singing career, singing lead vocals and playing guitar whilst his young daughter, Donna (aged 14) played bass guitar and harmonised. Their first gig together was a charity event in Halifax where they shared the bill with a young singer called Becky Haley and her sister Joanne, with Smokey Mountain Pete (Becky & Joanne from The Haleys and Pete from Wrangler). 12 months later, 10 year old son Darren found that he wanted to join the musical family…. Wanting to play drums!
Their set-list is ever growing with a unique twist on classics from the Foo Fighters to Adele. They cover Neil Diamond and Justin Bieber, Dolly Parton and T Rex. Bringing u a delicious selection of tunes from way back when to present day. We love a good laugh and giggle with the audience too.. bring your dancing shoes and come and enjoy yourselves with us.
The Black Swan: ‘Bash’ 9pm
BASH are a 5 piece covers band hailing from Leicester and playing anything from Buddy Holly through to Kasabian’s latest with loads of very varied material in between, including The Kinks, Squeeze, AC/DC, Al Green and even Whitesnake. We set out to entertain the crowd rather than ourselves so that’s why we play something for everybody. This approach has hit a chord (pun intended) with our audience and as a result we seem to be gaining a reasonable following.
This is our first venture out to the Pork Pie capital and we are really looking forward to playing The Black Swan, particularly for Clare the manager who was a wonderful host when she was running the Hind in Leicester a while ago. So…if you would like to listen to some nice, we’ll produced and some perfect music then stay at home and put a CD on…or…..if you would like to listen to some great live music from a very live band get down the ‘Swan’ on Friday.
The Noels Arms: ‘Plug’ 8.30pm
