An inspirational paper cutting artist who makes richly coloured collages that are inspired by the places and spaces she’s lived in and explores in England. She uses scissors and a scalpel to cut into layers of cut and painted papers, abstracting and paring down to capture the essence of a place and a moment. Vanessa’s work has lead her to solo exhibitions in Salisbury and Cambridge and her work can be seen throughout the year at Byard Art in Cambridge. Vanessa publishes luxury greeting cards that are sold in bookshops, shops and museums as well as often working to commission for private and business clients.
Vanessa started her paper cutting journey in 2007 after specialising in textiles for many years. She trained as a carpet and rug designer on the UK’s only Carpet Design degree course in the Midlands. Eleven years ago she started to translate architecture into cut paper and develop her distinctive hand cut style of collages, making collages of iconic buildings in Cambridge and beyond. Vanessa regularly runs adult workshops in paper cutting and collage. She has worked with children and adults of all ages delivering workshops in all settings and is a great exponent of sharing skills to enable others to develop their own creativity.
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8.
