Join us for a creative afternoon session making your own personalised Indian block print scarf in the beautiful surroundings of Hanwell Wine Estate, Nottinghamshire.

One of the world’s oldest methods of printing, block printing originating in China and is very popular throughout East Asia. Using traditional methods wooden blocks are hand carved to make a unique image and design that is then dipped in colour and printed on to fabric. Rural Antics is delighted to bring this new exciting workshop to you, giving you the opportunity to try this ancient printing technique and make something hand printed by you.
An easy and fun workshop our tutor Suzanne will guide you step by step through the process, teaching you about the blocks and how to handle them, recommendation for colour selection so by the end of the session you will have create your 1st wonderful block print scarf. Perfect as an accessory to your wardrobe or give as a gift to your family or friends.
All materials and light refreshments are included in the workshop price.

3.00 pm Tea & coffee and cake and a walk around the estate to stretch legs if you wish.
4.00 pm Home time and ready to show of your beautiful creative work.

About Suzanne
Suzanne is our exceptionally talented tutor, regularly running workshops her master skill is in bobbin lace making but has now branched out and embraced her new passion for Indian block printing. Her patience and keen eye for colour and detail has seen Suzanne’s portfolio of talents and skills grow.
Introduced to Bobbin Lace just after her seventh birthday she soon got involved in the Nottingham Bobbin Lace Society – Young Lace makers and Calverton Young Lace makers; which involved taking part in the English Lace School John Bull Trophy where the Calverton Young Lace makers won the Poole Trophy. The entry was a banner to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the invention of the stocking frame machine, by Rev William Lee of Calverton.
In addition to making items for her small business she also does a variety of workshops, taster sessions and talks on variety of crafts and techniques.
