Melton Farmers have developed a reputation for quality meats and produce from our field to fork Market Traders.

The main objective of a Farmers Market is to give an opportunity for local producers to sell fresh quality produce to local consumers. To create an understanding of quality that the seller can promote to the buyer creating a fair and familiarity to the product.

Please read the information below, for a little insight into just some of our regular traders that we are thrilled to host twice a week providing stunning quality wares and ingredients to our customers:

    Dickinson & Morris – Tuesday & Friday

    Melton Mowbray Pork Pies
Dickinson & Morris has been baking Melton Mowbray Pork Pies since 1851. We are the oldest remaining bakers of the authentic Pork Pie.
Premium ingredients, time-honoured recipes and attention to detail have made the Dickinson & Morris name what it is today. The host of awards collected by both the shops – through the pork pies, sausages and most importantly the staff – along with media recognition, reflects this achievement.

    Melton Mowbray Pork Pies

Dickinson & Morris has been baking Melton Mowbray Pork Pies since 1851. We are the oldest remaining bakers of the authentic Pork Pie in the town centre today.

    Feast and Furious – Tuesday

At Feast and the Furious we smoke all sorts of foods over real wood and make delicious hot sauces to go with them!

We cold smoke cheeses such as Stilton, Red Leicester, Cheddar, Halloumi, Brie and Mozzarella over oak, beech and applewood for example. We smoke nuts such as salted roasted peanuts which are really popular and a great snack item. We also smoke salted butter, salt, garlic and many other things that we are adding to the list over time.

We also hot smoke beef brisket and pulled pork which we will sell portioned and packaged for you to enjoy at home and it’s what we normally serve on our food truck as well. We take our food truck to events, weddings and festivals and it is available for private hire events.

    Turners Quality Bakers – Tuesday

Turners quality bakers produce a full range of traditional English bread and rolls as well as a fantastic evolving range of sour dough including spelt, rye, corn, Mediterranean and soda bread to name a few.

Based at Cropwell bishop they have recently joined us in the Farmer’s market in one of our Units.

    1324 Espresso – Tuesday, Friday & Sunday

Beautiful brewed fresh coffee to drink in or take away ran by the wonderful Darryl and his wife Angela.

Why 1324? It was the year Melton Mowbray Market got royal approval from King Edward 2nd. It was running for 300 years before that with tolls, so this Market has been in existence for over 1000 years, in fact it was mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

    Jenny’s Cuisine – Tuesday, Friday & Sunday

Home cooked Asian and Chinese food freshly prepared to eat on site or take away.

    Fair Game Foods – Tuesday

Fair Game Foods invite you to come and try our famous Farmers Market succulent pork roast rolls. You can create your own Meat Feast with the selection of cooked meats that we have to offer. Professional, quality outside catering, with over 15 years’ experience, we seek to promote locally sourced ingredients. Customer satisfaction is our number 1 priority.

Chris sells a wide range seasonal and high quality of fruit and vegetables

Sharons Fruit and Vegetables –  Tuesday & Friday

Sharon has supported our Market for many years and sells a fantastic range of seasonal & high quality fruit and vegetables on her weekly stall.

Sharon has a great customer base who buy from her each week at the Market

    Slightly potty – Friday

Slightly potty is a small business, dealing with every aspect of silk flowers. Whether an arrangement, loose flowers, a special occasion, or something in your own pot. I was awarded a Royal Warrant in 2009 by the Queen, and have provided silk flowers for most of the Royal Residences. I started in the Friday farmers market, about twelve years ago, and have remained faithful to this market ever since.

Scarborough Fayre – Tuesday & Friday

Scarborough fayre has been trading for 18 years, selling top quality fresh fish, shellfish and game in season. We pride ourselves on the products that we supply to both retail and catering customers. Our trademark is “Fish so fresh the next of kin have not yet been informed!!”

Melton Cheeseboard – Tuesday & Friday

We offer the widest range of cheeses in the county with over 150 different varieties to choose from, many of which are sourced locally from Leicestershire and the surrounding counties. We also stock some of the best cheeses that the UK has to offer, in addition to a wide variety of continental cheeses.

Stilton is our speciality, and we are unique in sourcing our cheeses directly from Long Clawson Dairy, based just five miles outside Melton Mowbray and Cropwell Bishop Creamery, based just over the border into Nottinghamshire.

Our Stilton is graded to our own specifications at the dairies, before being delivered to our shop, we can therefore guarantee the quality of our Stilton to ensure that you get the best possible cheese without exception.

However, it’s not all about Stilton! The Melton Cheeseboard are the cheese specialists in Melton Mowbray with a host of other fantastic cheeses to offer, from local Leicester’s – so much better than the bland supermarket offerings – and other great British Farmhouse cheeses.  With a complimentary range of Continental cheeses there’s always a treat in store for the cheese lover.

At Grasmere Farm quality, flavour, and tenderness are integral to our philosophy. We are passionate about providing you with affordable, delicious food that is hand crafted by our dedicated butchers and cooks. We combine the benefits of old fashioned farming methods and a blend of innovative yet traditional recipes, to satisfy today’s discerning food lovers. We aim to source all of the ingredients from the local area and try to minimise the use of packaging to limit our environmental impact.

Grasmere Farm is proud of its reputation for delicious sausages. We are passionate about wholesome, affordable food that is well made and tastes good. From our traditional Lincolnshire Sausage seasoned with sage, to the unique flavour of Smoked Rutland Sausage, there is a sausage for every palate and mood.

    13:00 -15:00
    13/02/2019
    Cotgrave Leisure Centre
    2 Woodview, Cotgrave, Nottingham NG12 3PG, UK

Weekly dementia friendly swimming sessions are now available at Cotgrave Leisure Centre to help individuals and carers enjoy exercise in comfortable surroundings.

From tomorrow (November 7), individuals, and families and friends who help sufferers can enjoy sessions every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm.

There is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the session and to help launch the class, the first six weeks are free of charge for all attendees.

The Dementia Swimming Project is part of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s and Lex Leisure’s wider health strategy with sessions designed to create a safe and friendly swimming environment.

The classes are led by swimmers and carers with trained staff attending poolside to offer guidance and support to enjoy a gentle exercise and social session in the pool.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Debbie Mason explained just how many people could benefit from its introduction.

She said: “Within Rushcliffe, approximately 1 per cent of our residents are living with dementia. As a Council we want to ensure they are supported with wellbeing opportunities wherever we can.

“The benefits of swimming are well publicised both in terms of physical health and emotional wellbeing but it has also been shown to improve the quality of life of those living with dementia.

There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with one in six over the age of 80 now having a form of the condition.

There is also a monthly Dementia Support group at Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

For more information on the Dementia Swimming Project visit www.swimming.org/dementiafriendly, contact Cotgrave Leisure Centre on 0115 989 2916 or email [email protected]

    Melton Mowbray Farmers Market
33 Scalford Rd, Melton Mowbray LE13 1JY, UK

Free Friday & Sunday On-site Parking – Refreshments and usual stalls available

Chris’s Fruit and Vegetables – Tuesday

Grasmere Farm – Tuesday, Friday & Sunday

    17/02/2019
    Doddington Hall
Doddington Hall, Doddington, Lincoln LN6 4RU, UK

Join us for a spectacular pageant of spring bulbs, beginning in early February with wonderful snowdrops, Cyclamen coum, and Crocus tommasinianus, continuing through March and early April with drifts of Lent lilies and our unique collection of heritage daffodils (including rare Edwardian varieties), winter aconites and snake’s head fritillaries until May.

The spring bulb pageant was started in the 1950s by Claire’s grandparents Ralph and Antonia Jarvis. Claire’s father Antony Jarvis and late mother Victoria continued the work and Antony estimates that he has planted or moved 150,000 bulbs in the last 25 years. Claire added a further 5000 snowdrops to the nature trail with some money she inherited from her maternal Grandmother Cecily Mathias. ‘Cecily’s Snowdrops’ have now been enjoyed by visitors since 2005.

    Don’t forget Mothering Sunday – 31 March

Bulbs are a spectacular feature at Doddington. Our Gardens are full of Spring bulbs and filled with drifts of golden daffodils during March. Treat your mum to a gorgeous stroll in the Gardens, a spot of retail therapy and perhaps even some delicious tea and homemade cake in our Café.
